BOULLE-PENDULE, Switzerland, Basel, circa 1750, signed on the movement J.J. Zeller à Basle. Curved case on all sides with brass, green and red coloured tortoiseshell and gilt bronze applications. Glazed on three sides, the front with a small door, behind it the white dial with Roman hour and Arabic minute numerals. Roof-shaped finial with applied figure of a Chinese man, the movement with quarter-hour strike and repeater on two bells. HxWxD: 77/38/17 cm. Brass overlay of the case part, detached, thread suspension torn, movement running.

In the Mannheim palace inventory of 1888, the clock is listed in the right wing, second floor to the right of the Knights' Hall No. 5, the living room of HRH the Grand Duchess Luise. The piece can already be found in the 1857 inventory on page 98, item 30.
