The German Retail Association has awarded Eppli Haus the prestigious industry prize “Stores of the Year 2026” as the winner in the “Concept Store | Out of Line” category.

The awards ceremony took place on 24 March 2026 as part of the Retail Property Congress in Berlin. Managing Director Ferdinand B. Eppli accepted the award in person. The competition annually recognises concepts that impress with their distinctive design, innovative ideas and an outstanding shopping experience. With its exceptional retail concept for pre-owned luxury goods, the Stuttgart-based family business prevailed against strong competitors.

A unique concept for pre-owned luxury

“This award means a great deal to us – not only as recognition of what we have built up over the past few years, but also as confirmation that we are on the right track. With the Eppli Haus, we have created something that is unique in Germany. We are delighted that the jury sees it in exactly the same way,” says Ferdinand B. Eppli.

Opening in August 2025 and centrally located in Stuttgart city centre, the Eppli Haus brings together, across 2,000 square metres, all the specialist services that were previously spread across several locations: an auction hall, a flagship store, a jeweller’s for private sales, an in-house centre of expertise, offices and logistics facilities, as well as watchmaking and goldsmith’s workshops. The range extends from luxury watches and high-quality jewellery to designer fashion and accessories, art and antiques, and fine wines.

At Eppli Haus, visitors can not only discover exceptional pre-owned luxury items, but also have their own valuables inspected, appraised, sold or put up for auction: a comprehensive approach that combines the shopping experience with a range of services.

The jury recognises the level of innovation and the customer experience

Since 2005, the German Retail Association has been awarding the ‘Stores of the Year’ prize to shops that stand out from the competition through their unique retail concepts and outstanding design. A panel of experts assesses the entries based on criteria such as the degree of innovation, customer benefit, the shopping experience, product range and product presentation.

Combining retail, auctions, expertise and craftsmanship, Eppli Haus impressed with a concept that deliberately breaks down the traditional boundaries of retail – in keeping with the competition category ‘Concept Store | Out of Line’. “Our aim was to create a place where everyone feels welcome and can experience luxury in all its facets. At the same time, our store is intended to stand for transparency and trust,” said Eppli.

Architecturally, too, the Eppli Haus sets its own tone. The spaces designed by blocher partners skilfully combine classic Eppli elements with a modern design language. Spacious retail areas, clear sightlines, curated experience zones and visibly integrated workshops create an atmosphere in which all the company’s services can be experienced first-hand.

Award confirms consistent approach

For Ferdinand B. Eppli, the award is also a tribute to the whole team: “An incredible amount of dedication, passion and courage has gone into this project. The prize therefore belongs to our entire team – and also to our customers, who bring this building to life.”

What began as one of the region’s first gold and jewellery buyers has continued to evolve. The ‘Stores of the Year’ award confirms what Eppli has been committed to for almost five decades: a willingness to constantly break new ground in the retail sector – and thus remain a pioneer.
