About the product
Museal knotted wool carpet. CUENCA/SOUTH SPAIN, 17th century, ca. 317x208 cm. The golden-yellow background is patterned in light blue with graphic-ornamental design elements, the knotting density is approx. 120,000 knots per square meter.
Condition: The carpet shows strong signs of age and wear, the pile is largely reduced to the base weave. Overall, the carpet shows a large number of restorations and repairs, such as a vertical cut that has been rejoined. There are approx. 3 cm long fringes on the upper edge. The lower edge and also the long edges were subsequently wrapped once. Insurance-relevant expert appraisal from 2013 with an estimated value of €35,000 enclosed.
