Handwritten collection of recipes and instructions for use, probably 18th/early 19th century, partly medical, including ‘In times of plague, when a person contracts the bubonic plague’, ‘Recipe for consumption’ and ‘To make an oil to lubricate (it?) so that (it does not?) rust’. The cover consists of a sheet from a Latin manuscript. Heavy signs of age and wear, pages loose, stained, tears, holes, damaged. INCLUDED are two folded sheets on the ‘language of flowers’. These consist of a list of different flowers and plant species and their symbolic meanings.
