About the product
LARGE LOUIS XVI PORTAL CLOCK Excellent, large Louis XVI portal clock from the late 18th century made of white Carrara marble and fire-gilded bronze: rectangular pilasters made of white marble, each with an accompanying pair of baluster columns made of gilded bronze, on an oblong flat base with adjustable feet and a smaller base made of black marble. In between there is a round clockwork with enamelled dial, this one with Arabic numerals and the signature: 'Poudra à Paris'. The clockwork is crowned by a classicist handle vase with a lush bouquet of fruit and flowers, and at the bottom an openwork bronze ornament in the form of stylized branches with an inscribed wreath of flowers. A fine sun pendulum with a central Apollo head attached to the thread suspension. The clock is also lavishly decorated with floral and vegetable bronze applications. Exceptionally fine chasing, high-quality matt and shiny gold plating.
