Eppli sets standards in the auction industry: pioneering transparent pricing since 2009
Eppli, one of the leading auction houses in Germany, has been setting a good example for many years when it comes to transparent pricing. In the industry, hammer prices are usually shown separately from additional fees such as premiums and taxes - Eppli, on the other hand, takes a customer-friendly approach: all prices already include the premium and other fees so that the hammer price always corresponds to the final price. This creates maximum clarity for bidders and avoids unpleasant surprises.
This makes Eppli's pricing policy very different from many of its competitors, who add a premium of up to 35% to the hammer price and also charge 19% VAT on top of this premium. This means that bidders have to work out the actual total amount to be paid themselves after a successful bid - which makes the process unnecessarily complicated. This can lead to wrong decisions, especially in hectic bidding battles: Bidders either exceed their budget because they did not calculate quickly enough, or they forgo a decisive bidding step because they because they feel that the final price will be too high due to premiums and taxes. Especially in Germany, where we are used to retail prices including taxes, this non-transparent practice often causes uncertainty and misunderstandings.
Creating trust through transparent pricing
Eppli is the only auction house in the world to deliberately take a special path and ensure simple and fair participation in auctions through its clearly comprehensible price structure - for everyone. Ferdinand Eppli, member of the management board, knows that trust and customer satisfaction can only be achieved through transparency: "We see ourselves as an auction house for everyone and want our offer to appeal not only to experienced collectors and dealers, but also to interested parties who have little or no auction experience and want to bid spontaneously on site or online. To do this, we need to create trust in the auction process. And this can only be achieved with consistently transparent pricing, where bidders know from the outset what costs they will incur."
The focus is on clarity and fairness
The focus is on clarity and fairness There are no hidden additional fees or final prices that have to be calculated manually at Eppli. The total amount to be paid is always immediately apparent. Thanks to this disruptive approach, the family business has enjoyed the trust of its customers for many years and is considered an innovation driver in the industry: for a unique auction experience that focuses on clarity and fairness.
