The new Eppli Haus opens in summer
Stuttgart's first address for pre-owned luxury
- unique, trend-setting, diverse -

Stuttgart will soon have a new address for pre-owned luxury: Eppli Haus combines all product categories and over 45 years of expertise under one roof on an area of 2,000 square metres. The concept, which is unique in Germany, offers a unique shopping experience with an auction room, an attractive flagship store, a jeweller for private sales and a comprehensive range of services. Construction work in the former Spielwaren-Kurtz building at Sporerstraße 8 is in full swing and the opening is planned for July.
The walls have been erected, the new shop window front has been installed and the electrical wiring has been laid. Painting work has recently begun, with flooring and carpentry work to follow soon. With the imminent move to Sporerstraße 8, a long-held entrepreneurial vision is becoming a reality for the Eppli family business.
One of the largest auction and trading houses for pre-owned luxury in Germany
‘The vision of uniting all our divisions and expertise in one house has existed for a long time. With Eppli Haus, we can now finally realise our plans and create a large auction and trading house for pre-owned luxury,’ says Managing Director Ferdinand Eppli.
For a long time, Eppli's headquarters in Bärenstraße actually housed all departments under one roof. But as the family business developed into one of the largest and most renowned full-service providers for tangible assets and investments, additional space was needed. The art and antiques departments moved to the auction hall in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The promising fashion and accessories division expanded into the Königsbau, while the expert centre found a new home on Marktplatz. The division of the locations was therefore not a deliberate decision, but was due to growth.
New location in a prime location
When the former Kurtz building became vacant, Eppli did not hesitate for long. In the immediate vicinity of Merz & Benzing and the market hall, Sporerstraße is regarded as a luxury mile in Stuttgart that extends into the Dorotheenquartier. ‘The corner has always been characterised by high-quality shops, attractive brands and fine dining - and is therefore a perfect fit for us,’ says Ferdinand Eppli.
A total area of around 2,000 square metres, spread over six floors, will bring together all business areas in future: The ground floor will house the jewellery shop, the jewellery and watch area as well as a sales area for fashion, handbags and accessories - which will continue up to the first floor. Part of the expert centre as well as the goldsmith and watchmaker workshop are also planned there. The passageway into the area facing the market square offers space for the auction preview as well as an air-conditioned wine cellar behind glass and leads into the modern auction room with integrated bar. The majority of the experts' offices will move to the second floor. This is where the appraisal, purchase or consignment of objects for auctions will take place. The third floor is intended for the management, personnel and marketing departments as well as meeting rooms. Art, collectibles and antiques as well as coins, stamps and historical items are offered on the first basement floor, while the second basement floor serves as storage space. The safelounge and a small administrative area will remain at the previous location at Marktplatz 6.
Unique shopping experience
The new location in Sporerstraße not only opens up new opportunities for Eppli, but above all for customers: ‘Going to Eppli should be an experience - whether you visit our auctions on Saturdays or buy special pieces in the buy-it-now programme. We want everyone to feel comfortable here and enjoy their visit. Our bar also plays a major role in this: it should also be a meeting place for socialising,’ explains Ferdinand Eppli.
The new Eppli Haus is also intended to be a place of inspiration and diversity. Regular customers from Bärenstraße rarely visited the store in the Königsbau and vice versa. By bringing the city centre locations together, the company hopes to achieve synergy effects: ‘Our range is so large and diverse - many people aren't even aware of that. A customer who was previously mainly interested in jewellery can now also discover our range of luxury handbags, designer fashion, exquisite wines or selected works of art. This range of goods is unique in Stuttgart - and probably also in Germany.’
Pioneering (construction) project
Eppli engaged the renowned Stuttgart-based architecture firm Blocher Partners, which has excellent references in the fields of interior design and façade construction, to plan and realise the conversion. ‘Combining a multifaceted retail concept with an auction area and expert offices was a planning challenge that cannot be compared with traditional retail. There were hardly any points of reference for this project, we took on a pioneering role here,’ explains Ferdinand Eppli.
It was important for the company to retain its character as a house for pre-owned luxury. Eppli wants to consciously showcase its diversity and create an open house where everyone feels welcome and can have a casual look around. It is precisely this atmosphere that the new premises are intended to reflect. The interior design reflects the signature style of both Eppli and Blocher Partners: ‘It will be a mixture of classic and modern, but definitely exclusive and high-quality. And sometimes surprising,’ reveals Ferdinand Eppli.
Investing in the future
The move to the new Eppli Haus marks a significant milestone for the family business. The development of this forward-looking project not only involved a great deal of time and passion, but also considerable investment. Eppli is thus making a clear and long-term commitment to bricks-and-mortar retail and a special kind of shopping experience - right in the centre of Stuttgart.
The Eppli Haus is expected to open its doors in July 2025 - the grand opening ceremony is planned for October. We cordially invite media representatives to an exclusive tour of the construction site on 22 May 2025 at 14:00. Would you like to be there? Then please send us an e-mail: eppli@convensis.com
