Mixed lot of 6 ICONS, Russia, 19th century, the icons depict scenes from the life of St Nicholas, consisting of: 1) Appearance of St Nicholas to Emperor Constantine, HxW: approx. 22.7x15.9 cm; 2) St Nicholas saves 3 innocent people from execution, HxW: approx. 22.5x15.9 cm; 3) The passing of the saint, HxW: approx. 17.2x16.7 cm; 4) St Nicholas brings a boy stolen by pirates back to his parents, HxW: approx. 17.1x16.6 cm; St Nicholas the Miracle Worker, HxW: approx. 17.2x15.9 cm; 6) St Nicholas rescues a child from distress at sea, HxW: approx. 17x17.3 cm. Partly inscribed in church Cyrillic, tempera over chalk ground on wooden panel, partly gilt. Traces of age and wear in each case, colour flaking.
