GEROK, Karl (1815 - 1890), autograph souvenir sheet with signature, 1886, probably based on a hymn by the Lutheran theologian Phillipp Spitta (1801 - 1859). It is dated 2 May 1886 and reads as follows: „Marianne Raff - Die Vaterhand, die dich so treu geführet, das Vateraug’, das dich so treu bewacht, das Vaterherz, das deine Bitte rühret und das mit einer Liebe dein gedacht, das wolle dich auch ferner treulich leiten, auf das dein Weg grad aus zum Himmel geh’, und dich zum ew´gen Leben zubereiten, es sei durch Lieb und Leid, durch Wohl und Weh! 2. Mai 1886 / Ps. 25,8-10. / K. Gerok ' Corrugated and embossed album page written on one side in ink (HxW: approx. 8 x 11.8 cm), glued into a folding card, with a mounted portrait photo of the Stuttgart theologian and poet Karl Gerok on the front. Signs of age and abrasion, minimal discolouration, slight stains probably caused by glue coming loose when the sheet was glued in. Typeface legibly preserved.
