accessibility statement

Status of the declaration: June 2025
Valid for: www.eppli.com - online store and website
Responsible: Eppli am Markt Auktionshaus - Juwelier e.K., Marktplatz 6, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany

Introduction and objectives

The Eppli auction house aims to make the content of its online store and website as accessible as possible. We want to ensure that all people - regardless of individual limitations - can use our digital offerings.

We are currently working intensively on the introduction of a fully accessible screen design and are investing a not inconsiderable five-figure sum for this. The implementation is being carried out in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102, the Baden-Württemberg Disability Equality Act (L-BGG) and the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0).

Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is currently partially accessible. The requirements of BITV 2.0 are partially fulfilled.

Test procedure

A systematic accessibility check was carried out using the Eye-Able® software solution. The content of our current user interface was audited for accessibility and evaluated according to international standards (e.g. WCAG 2.1). Many of the problems found have already been rectified. Other identified barriers are known and are being actively addressed.

Barriers that still exist (selection)

Despite considerable improvements, the following known barriers currently exist, which will be completely eliminated in the near future or at the latest with the new user interface:

  • Buttons without accessible names
  • Limited zoom functionality due to meta-viewport
  • Insufficient text contrast
  • Incorrectly nested lists
  • Images without alt texts
  • Links without descriptive text
  • Missing or ambiguous ARIA roles
  • Small font sizes and small line spacing
  • Problems with the structure of headings
  • Insufficient size of touch targets
  • Form fields without a visible label
  • Non-unique IDs and unclear alt texts

A complete error analysis is available internally and is part of the ongoing optimization. The identified barriers have been documented and will be incorporated into the upcoming redesign.

Justification for current restrictions

The complete barrier-free implementation of all existing content is currently associated with disproportionate effort - particularly with regard to legacy technical structures, design conflicts and the existing system architecture.

In accordance with Section 10 (2) L-BGG (disproportionate burden), we are therefore currently not in a position to fully implement all requirements. However, we expressly emphasize that significant measures have already been initiated and that a comprehensive revision of the website is imminent.

Measures to improve accessibility

  • Introduction of a new accessible user interface (planned: soon in 2025)
  • Use of the Eye-Able Assist assistance software, which already enables users to make adjustments such as changing contrast, enlarging text and highlighting focus
  • Ongoing review and adaptation in accordance with WCAG 2.1 AA
  • Continuous training of editorial and technical teams
