HOLY MONK
19th century, fully rounded carving, polychrome finish, figure of a bearded saint with tonsure standing in a restrained contrapposto and evenly flowing posture, the saint wears a simple floor-length undergarment as well as a folded cloak wrapped around the body, the fine design of which particularly showcases the artistic quality of this remarkable sculpture, verso with inscription of the couple who donated the sculpture in 1868, H: approx. 83 cm. Nicks with losses, mounted on a wooden base, hands missing.
