Red chalk and graphite on paper-colored wove paper. Depiction of a young woman in strict profile to the left, her hair gathered into a braided plait. The clear contours and the calm, closed conception of the figure refer to Hans Thomas's classicist visual language. The sheet is exemplary of Thomas's intensive engagement with the human figure and can be understood as an executed study or as an autonomous portrait.
