MEISSEN Plate “Butterfly pattern”, circa 1730. Plate with delicate painting of a colourful Chinese butterfly on a flowering branch, with brown rim painting, sword mark on the underside, mould mark “II” for Johann Gottlieb Geithner (1707-1761), diameter approx. 23 cm. Signs of age and use, see Rainer Rückert, Biographische Daten der Meißener Manufakturisten des 18. Jahrhunderts, Munich 1990.
