Herend mocha service for 4 persons “Rothschild”
Herend, 20th century. White porcelain, polychrome hand-painted decoration, gold rims. 11 pieces, consisting of: 1 mocha pot with elongated spout and loop handle. Lid with applied rosebud finial (height approx. 16 cm). 1 sugar bowl with rosebud lid. 1 pear-shaped cream jug. 4 mocha cups with relief border (Ozier pattern). 4 saucers. The “Rothschild” pattern is considered one of the manufactory’s classics: at its center are various bird motifs on trees (inspired by a legend associated with the Rothschild family), framed by delicate butterfly and insect motifs. The rims are decorated with gilding and the characteristic basket-weave relief (Ozier). Blue underglaze stamp “Herend Hungary / Handpainted”, impressed “HEREND” marks with model numbers. Overall in very good condition.
