GEOMETRIC DESIGN RUG
Turkey. 1980-1990. Hand-knotted. Pile made of wool, warp and weft of cotton. 223 x 168 cm. Modern knotted rug with a striking, abstract-geometric design on a bright brick-red background. The composition consists of two central, vertically stacked motif groups in cream, yellow, deep blue, with accents in green. The design language is heavily influenced by Constructivism and plays with the symmetry of hourglass and triangle shapes. A narrow, dark blue border frames the lively central field. Good, usable condition. The pile is firm and even. Occasionally minimal, small spots in the light area (in need of cleaning). Original fringe ends, stable.
