Pair of Historicist Bowls with Glass Inserts
Probably Germany, Hanau. Circa 1900. Silver 800, colorless glass. Circular form on a narrow foot ring. The body is executed in fine pierced openwork (ajour) all around, decorated with rocailles, scrolls, and lattice-like ornaments in the Neo-Rococo style. Two opposing relief cartouches feature finely detailed figural scenes depicting rural genre or gallant scenes. The upper rim is molded and slightly undulating. The matching removable glass inserts have a flared, smooth rim. Diameter: 10 cm. Material: Silver 800 and clear glass. Total weight: 288 g. Very well-preserved condition. The glass inserts are flawless and free from chips or damages.
