CHIMNEY ARNITURE, France, mid 19th century, stepped alabaster case with fire-gilt bronze applications, at the top a detailed bronze cast of a seated gardener in mourning over a dead bird in her hand, pair of stands in matching design. Movement with thread suspension and striking on bell on the half and full hour, stamped on the back plate: ‘ROBLIN A PARIS’. HxWxD: 46/25/13 cm. Signs of age and wear, movement tarnishes briefly, front stand with missing bronze applications.
