Item number: 1126537

ROSENTHAL Art Nouveau figure “Moon Goddess”, 1920s/30s, the design by Berthold Boeß from 1923 does not show the dancer Mary Wigmann, as is often wrongly assumed, but rather the dancer Sent M'Ahesa in a pose of her ancient Egyptian dance 'Moon Goddess' (many thanks to Prof. Dr. Frank-Manuel Peter, director of the Cologne Dance Archives, for your reference), dressed with a winged cape and a blue dress, pastel-colored version, H 10, 5 x L 28 cm, artist's signature 'B. Boess' on a curved plinth, green stamp 'Rosenthal Selb-Bavaria' or 'Selb -Germany' (lettering is slightly blurred, therefore exact dating of the execution is not possible), slight glaze bubble on the left wing, slight signs of age.
