About the product
France - Bronze medaille n.d. (1920), Bouchard, Henri (1875-1960), 'Les fondateurs de l'Hôtel Dieu de Beaune', struck for the members of the Société des Amis de la Médaille Française (SAMF), Av: Busts of the founding couple facing each other with the hospital between them, Rv: Depiction of a sick man in a bed, with a praying woman next to him, edge hallmarks: 'BRONZE', triangle, number 60, EF, rubbed relief, white coating in places, scratch marks, toning, corrosion, approx. 79 g. The depiction of Nicolas Rolin and Guigone de Salins, the founders of the former Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Beaune, was thematized by Henri Bouchard (1875-1960) several times in his ouevre. A special feature of this medal is that it is the only one that was not struck by the Paris Mint for the SAMF, but by the private company L. Janvier & L. Berchot. For this reason, the medal is marked with a consecutive number, but not with the hallmarks that were otherwise used by the medal company. Distr. 5/1920, edition 60/117, illustrated in: Maier 2010, no. 62 (p.126)
