Description
RUDOLPH, Georg Gottfried (1778–1840), handwritten competitive poem “Idylle”,
written by Friedrich Schiller's servant and private secretary.
'Idylle
Heiter und prachtvoll
waren die letzten Strahlen der scheidenden Sonne.
Kein Wölkchen trübte
trübte des Horizonts glänzenden Purpur.
Sanft weheten Zephyre,
und mit kosendem Murmeln begrüßt
dort ein Silberquell
Lunen’s keusches Licht.
Feyerliche Stille schwebt über der Flur.
Nur in jener Cypreße heiligem Dunkel
singt Philomele
ihr schmelzendes Abendlied.
Schweigend ziehen
die Heerden von den Triften,
und der müde Landbewohner eilt
der Ruhe seiner ländlichen Hütte zu.
Ganz im Anblick der schönen Natur verlohren
sitzt dort in jenem duftenden Rosenstrauch
ein Bauer –
und scheißt.'
Double-sided paper (HxW: approx. 22.4 x 19 cm). Signs of age and handling, browned, slightly stained, edge damage, creases, small holes at the fold lines.
