PASSAU “Biedermeier silver trousseau cutlery” 13-soldered silver, 1850-1860
Extensive cutlery set made of 13-soldered silver, 12 dinner knives, 12 dinner forks, 11 dinner spoons, 11 dessert spoons, 12 starter knives, 12 starter forks, 10 starter spoons, 1 soup ladle, 1 large ragout spoon, BZ., original leather-covered wooden box with interior lining of deerskin, monogrammed “RP”, silver weight 1827 g, wooden box, HxWxD: 11/49/32 cm. Minor damage to the veneer.
Provenance: Rosine Pummerer (1840-1923), married name Simson, from Passau. She was the daughter of Anton V. Pummerer (1812-1888) and great-granddaughter of Joachim E. Pummerer (1734-1823), who was mayor of the city of Passau during the dissolution of the Passau Prince-Bishopric (1803) and the Napoleonic era and received the French emperor in 1805. She was also the grandmother of the well-known Passau painter Margarete Schneider-Reichel, who was married to Otmar Schneider (1894-1967). O. Schneider married Kunigunde Müller in his second marriage, who gave the cutlery to the current owner, O. Schneider's nephew, shortly before her death.
