MOZART, document attributed to Mozart's son -

Small framed document written in ink by Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart (1791-1844), Austrian composer, music teacher, and pianist, son of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He performed under the name Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Sohn.

The text on the front reads:
“I confirm the contents of this paper / today, August 25, 1842 / Wolfgang Amad: Mozart mp”

Text on the back: “From the autograph collection of Count Viktor Wimpfen. From the estate of my uncle Josef Posche.”

Checked and confirmed by Dr. Leisinger, Director of the Mozart Institute/Digital Mozart Edition, Salzburg.
The autograph collection from the estate of Count Victor Wimpffen was auctioned in Graz in 1903.
According to the consignor, the document was acquired in Vienna in the first half of the 20th century and has been in the family since then.
Dimensions with frame 15 cm x 8 cm, dimensions without frame 8.5 cm x 1.3 cm - 2.4 cm. With signs of age and usage, document glued onto paper backing, discoloration, creases.
