Large wooden Guanyin sculpture. CHINA, 20th century. Guanyin sits on a rock throne, his left foot placed on a rocky outcrop, his right leg bent. The deity is leaning on the rock throne with his left hand, his right arm resting gracefully on his knee. The slightly coarse facial features with a pronounced mouth and curved eyebrows radiate a mediative serenity. The hair is styled into a knot and held in place by a crown. The robe falls loosely over the body and the neck is adorned with a heavy chain. Remains of a coloured painting, h: approx. 67.5 cm. Non-original gold decorations. Heavily damaged.
