Unsigned portrait of a lady in pastel on paper/cardboard, the work depicts a young woman in three-quarter view against a suggested landscape background. Particularly noteworthy is the detailed rendering of the era-typical, high-piled powdered hairstyle as well as the softly falling drapery of her light-colored garment. The subtle handling of light and the gentle transitions of the skin tones give the face a lively presence. Stylistically, the work can be assigned to the late Rococo or early Classicism and recalls the tradition of English or French pastel painting of the late 18th century. HxW: 62/50 cm.
