About the product
Historic Italian consignment note from Fratelli Toniati, 1803, from Vicenza to Bolzano. The consignment note confirms the transport of two parcels (‘Bolotti’) containing cloth (‘Panno di Rima’). The recipient of the consignment was Giorgio Antonio Menz in Bolzano. The goods were transported by the carrier Bassi and described as ‘dry and in good condition’. The freight costs amounted to 7.18 lire and payment was made in Naples on 12 May 1803. This indicates a larger trading network that extended beyond northern Italy. The consignment note contains both handwritten notes on the calculation of the freight costs and an official confirmation from the Vicenza-based Fratelli Toniati. The document is a valuable testimony to the trade and transport structures in Italy at the beginning of the 19th century. Signs of age and handling, minimal discolouration, small tear to the edge.
