Guest book from the Crown Prince Barracks in Kalk (Cologne),
the barracks opened on 1 April 1896, The cover is marked “Our guests 18 April 1896”. A total of 26 pages are filled with text and signatures from soldiers of various regiments who visited or were stationed at the Kronprinz Barracks. The first entry was made on 6 May 1896 and the last on 28 June 1914. there are several well-known signatures, including on the first page Victoria Princess Adolf zu Schaumburg-Lippe Princess of Prussia and Adolf Prince zu Schaumburglippe 28 June 1898, Franz Count Vitzthum von Eikstaedt 22 May 1886, Heinrich Caspari, Colonel of the Freiherr von Sparr Infantry Regiment, Paul von Hindenburg, Colonel and Chief of Staff of the VIII Army Corps, 12 March 1897, Freiherr von Massenbach, Major in Infantry Regiment No. 16, 25 April 1897, Ida von Holleben, 3 May 1898, and many more. The guest book shows significant signs of age and wear. The paper has darkened and is badly damaged in places, torn, one page is torn out, some pages are stuck together and heavily stained. The book was probably restored, during which the order of the pages was changed and the signatures of the Prince and Princess of Schaumburg-Lippe were moved to the front. The cover is badly rubbed, and the corners and edges are bumped.
