Dedication: From Grand Duke Friedrich II to the Rentamtmann Eugen Honer, in memory of the times at Langenstein Castle. Contextualization: After the end of the First World War, the abdicated Grand Duke Friedrich II of Baden, his wife, his mother Luise and his sister Viktoria (then Queen of Sweden) lived at Langenstein Castle for a time as guests of Count Douglas (of Swedish descent). The castle belonged to one of the eight Bavarian district governments - Swabia and Neuburg - and was therefore also subject to both the sovereign and the manorial financial administration, also known as the Rentamt. This financial authority was established at the respective district courts and formed the lower administrative level. At the middle level, rent offices were also set up at the district governments, known as finance chambers. These chambers and authorities were headed by a Rentamtmann. It is therefore not far-fetched that Frederick II and the Rentamtmann named Eugen Honer met due to financial and land tax matters relating to Langenstein Castle - as the Grand Duke often stayed there. A financial subsidy from the Grand Duke to the Count and a closer acquaintance with Honer due to his position in the Rentamt and for financial benefits are also possible.
