Description
Pair of large ceramic figures. CHINA, 19th century. Each figure stands individually on a square base: 1.) the androgynous Lan Caihe, one of the eight immortals symbolizing eternal youth, H: 75.5 cm, and
2.) Lu, the god of fortune, H: 83 cm. Each is made of light beige shards, partly colored glazed, with a particularly beautiful lagoon green and cobalt blue flowing glaze. Signs of age and various damages, especially to the male figure Lu. The figure Lan Caihe originally held something in her hands, presumably one of her attributes, which is missing.
