Description
ALFRED MORÈT (1853–1913) “Swordsman”
Bronze, dark patina, mounted on a square grey-and-white veined marble base. Total height approx. 25 cm. Full-figure representation of a youthful fighter, clad only in a loincloth, depicted in a proud and upright stance. He holds a short sword in his right hand, while the left hand supports the blade. The composition conveys both tension and balance, capturing a moment of poised readiness. The sculpture is distinguished by its finely detailed modelling of the musculature and its adherence to the academic realism characteristic of the French sculptor Alfred Morét. Signed on the side of the plinth: “Morét”. Condition: Good age-related condition with an attractive patina.
