ZAJC, ANTON (1920-2008), 'Tranquility' in a Florentine tabernacle frame from the 19th century, the painting: Half portrait of a young woman with a blue dress, in the manner of Italian old masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, l.r. signed and dated in Roman numerals MCMLXXIV (1974), oil/canvas on panel, approx. 66.5x53.5 cm; the tabernacle frame: stuccoed wood, colored and gilded, in the Renaissance style with shell and floral ornaments, seraphim and coat of arms, HxW: external dimensions approx. 104x88 cm. Signs of age, frame restored and edges slightly damaged. PROVENANCE: According to verbal information, the frame was acquired in New York and is said to originally come from the Metropolitan Museum, New York.
