VAN DER HELST, BARTHOLOMEUS, Circle of (B.v.d.H.: 1613-1670), 'Portrait of a man', c. 1650, depicted as a bust portrait, wearing a black robe with a plain white collar and two tassels, his hair falling open over his shoulders. His gaze is turned towards the viewer. With his left hand, the little finger of which is adorned with a ring, he proudly grasps one of the tassels, indicating his position in Dutch society. Oil on canvas, relined, HxW: approx. 65 x 57.5 cm (HxW frame: approx. 86 x 78 cm). Signs of age and wear, craquelure, minor colour losses, scratches. With frame in the style of the Dutch Old Masters (traces of age).
