Oriental carpet. BIDJAR/PERSIA, 20th century, approx. 296x214 cm. A diamond-shaped, off-white hexagon is in the centre on a light red ground. The corner niches are in dark indigo blue. The centre field is decorated with a 'mahi-to-hosh' diamond pattern. The four dark blue corner spandrels are also patterned in this way. The dark indigo main border is patterned throughout with a turtle design. Approx. 250,000 knots per square metre. Signs of age and wear as well as irregularly faded colours. Acquired in Baden-Baden in 1991 for the equivalent of €3600.
