HERMÉS scarf 'EARLY AMERICA', by Francoise de la Perriere, design first published in 1980. 100% silk. Mousselin pays homage to the young America of George Washington, the first president of the USA from 1789 to 1797, and is inspired by a favourite American art, paper cutting. Each sheet, often of marbled paper, is folded several times and then carefully perforated with sharp scissors or a canivet (small pocket knife). Hand rolled hems. 140 x 140 cm. Traces of wear present.
