PICTURE CARVER 15./16. Century, South German/Alpine region, Gothic 'Madonna and Child', wood, painted, fully three-dimensional carved group of figures, the crowned Mary holding the blessing Christ child with the orb in the direction of the viewer, standing on an oval plinth, mounted on a square base (probably supplemented ), HxW:D: approx. 56x20x15 cm. Restored and the arm of Christ supplemented with an orb, the plinth has a missing part. PROVENANCE: according to information from the consignor, this Madonna came to the family around 1740 from a monastery in Diessen am Ammersee through a valet working in Diessen.
