6 ceramic animal figurines. CHINA, 'Diana Cargo', 1800-1817, colorfully glazed or painted: pair of parrots, h: 15,5 cm, pair of roosters, h: 17 cm, pair of dogs, h: 13,5 cm. Partly heavily damaged.
(The merchant ship 'Diana' was on its way from China to India when it sank off the coast of Sumatra on 05 March 1817. In 1994, parts of the porcelain cargo were recovered almost intact from the wreck by British treasure hunter Dorian Ball and auctioned by Christie's Amsterdam in 1995. It is export porcelain made by the Imperial porcelain distillery in Jingdeshen, Xiang Province, and painted in magnificent cobalt blue).
