Fur coats: historical, extraordinary and warm

People have been wearing clothes made of fur for centuries and it has always been a sign of wealth and prosperity. Even in today's age, this view has not changed. But if we leave aside prestige and reputation that furs bring, we are still left with an extremely imposing garment that keeps very warm and looks extraordinary.

The main types of fur

Since the investment in a fur coat is often a one-time thing, or at least very rare, before you buy it, you should study the different types of fur and decide for yourself which fur coat is the most suitable.

Mink fur: Mink belongs to the marten family and is bred by the millions, mainly in Denmark, for the production of fur coats. Mink fur is very soft and water repellent while keeping you exceptionally warm. It comes in either dark or light colors. In our store we have a handful of used mink coats for you to choose from.

Sable: Compared to the mink, sable belongs to the real marten, which makes their fur extremely rare and at the same time very valuable or expensive. Due to the different colors of the animals, even the coat after production can have different shades, ranging from light to dark. If you decide to buy a used sable fur coat, you should plan at least 6000 € or more.

Rabbit furs: as the name suggests, rabbit furs come from rabbits. The fur of the so-called Rex rabbit, which has softer and shorter fur than normal rabbits, is particularly popular. Since rabbits differ greatly in their fur color and patterns, many furs also shine in different tones and shades.

Fox fur: Be careful with a used coat made of fox fur! Since the animals are found in a wide variety of genera worldwide, the quality can vary extremely. Therefore, when buying, pay attention to the manufacture or origin of the coat from Europe. Red fox fur coats, which have a slight reddish shimmer and long hairs, are particularly popular. Fox furs are also among the cheaper fur coats.

Ermine fur: The fur of the ermine (or big weasel) used to be one of the most important furs of all. Why? Because in winter the fur turned snow-white and it was reserved only for kings or important scholars for their cloaks. Nowadays ermine fur is rarely traded.

The be-all and end-all: the right brand for fur coats

Between quality and durability of used fur coats there are big differences. Even in such a special market as this, unfortunately, you can find many cheap brands that do not take into account soft fur or quality workmanship. We strongly advise to stay away from such brands, because these fur coats are half the pleasure and give up their spirit faster.

But now the good news for you: All used fur coats in our assortment come from absolute designer and quality brands that have been dedicated to the production of high-quality fur coats for years. For example, you will find mink coats from Christian Dior, sable coats from Slupinski or even rabbit coats from Philipp Plein. In addition, there are other brands such as Jan, Fur Neugebauer, Patrizia Pepe, Copenhagen Fur, Bisang Couture, Skinn Wille or even Hermès. So there should be a used fur coat for every fur lover.

Prices used fur coats

Depending on the brand and the chosen fur, the prices of used fur coats can differ greatly. In our online store you can find prices ranging from 650 € to 12,000 €. The aforementioned sable cases quickly drive up a price, while mink coats are a much cheaper choice depending on the brand.
