5-part SAT.1 GOLD report series provides exclusive look behind the scenes of Germany's largest auction house

On Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 9:10 p.m., SAT.1 GOLD will air the first episode of "RAMSCH ODER RARES - DIE ANTIQUITÄTENPROFIS." The 5-part reportage series offers an exciting look behind the scenes at Eppli, which has grown from a small family business into Germany's largest auction house and a specialist in pre-owned luxury items.

Stories of curiosities, rarities, old treasures and tough negotiations are more popular than ever on television. What is reenacted in many shows is part of Eppli's daily business. In the new report series "RAMSCH OR RARES - DIE ANTIQUITÄTENPROFIS." SAT.1 GOLD provides exclusive insight into the auction and vintage luxury world of Eppli: In five episodes, the varied everyday life of Germany's largest auction house is shown. Exciting encounters with the people and managers of the Stuttgart-based family business, with selected customers, as well as interesting content about the appraisal and consignment of valuables make the report a unique format that has not yet been seen on TV in this form.

From Stuttgart to Miami

Over a period of months, a production team of several people intensively accompanied the experts from Eppli. From authenticity testing and valuation to appraisal, auction and sale, the multifaceted daily business is told in five consecutive and entertaining episodes. No distance was too far for the production: SAT.1 GOLD even accompanied Ferdinand Eppli as an expert to the international trade fair "The Original Miami Beach Antique Show," which took place from January 19 to 23 in Miami, Florida, as well as to off-site visits to customers. It also features nostalgic stories behind the items, hard-hitting negotiations and exciting auction thrillers - including the auction of Queen Elizabeth II's handwritten letter last November and the successful sports memorabilia auction, in which special items from ex-Formula 1 pro Michael Schumacher and other major world athletes went under the hammer in March.

On the pulse of time

"We are very pleased that there is such lively public interest in our day-to-day business, which is also always exciting and full of new experiences for ourselves. There is never a dull moment at Eppli. Every object tells its own story. Even if standards remain the same, our daily business is a field that is constantly changing despite a long tradition," says Ferdinand Eppli, who is the second generation to run the family business. Together with his wife Margaret Eppli and other faces of the traditional house, he invites viewers on a fascinating journey behind the scenes of the Eppli auction house as part of the format.
